Fall Listening #1

I enjoy art blogs that also post music recommendations. I used to do this more, so I decided to pick it back up again. Fall is a season that’s celebrated in an odd combination of ways. Both the afflicting SAD and the aesthetic experience of sweater-wearing, coffee-drinking earth-dwellers makes this season perfect for slow methodical music. I’m going to try and post at least one record a week that represents a soundtrack for the season. Although I’m mostly a T, that F is just below the 50% mark, so these are for my fellow emotion-enabling seekers.

Also, I need to plug the blog of one of my best friends, Todd Nief. It’s called Primitive Future and it will be your favorite music blog. Subscribe!

Pygmy Lush – Mount Hope, 2008
(The rip quality isn’t the best, as a head’s up, sorry).

Pygmy Lush is from Sterling, Virginia and features members from such hardcore stalwarts as Pg. 99 and Malady. Their first record, Bitter River was more a less an extension of their previous bands, noisy and frenetic punk. As they sing “…older now, hard to swallow,” Mount Hope is a major departure from early records, focusing on a more quiet, driving folk sound. In other words, perfect for Fall listening.
