Demystifying a place is easier than implied. Sometimes all it takes is wandering aimlessly and talking to people on their way home from work. A city like Baltimore, which has its share of social ills, is still a place where humans interact with their landscape. Despite what one might have heard, Baltimore is like many other places.
I left Baltimore recently. As my time shortened, I felt a decisive urge to make new images of my home. I didn’t want to do something topical, like previous work in or about the city, so I decided to fall on a default in photographic process. That is, walk around, interact, and make pictures.
